In 2016, through collaboration with professors Francesco Riganti Fulginei and Antonino Laudani from the University of Roma Tre, Alex Braga developed A-MINT (Artificial Musical Intelligence), a revolutionary adaptive artificial intelligence ecosystem in its field. A-MINT stands out for three key features: it operates in real-time, it trains directly on the artist using it without relying on pre-existing databases, and it requires minimal computational resources, making it both ethically and environmentally sustainable.
What makes Braga's artistic research unique is his holistic approach, which combines technology, spirituality, and sustainability, heavily influenced by his mentors Vienna Eleuteri and Michael Held. He sees A-MINT not only as a musical tool but as a paradigm for a new ethical relationship with technology, defining the genre of “Augmented Music” that integrates sound and visual dimensions in real-time. His work extends to experimenting with alternative models for music distribution: he rejects traditional commercial distribution channels, promoting an approach that views music not as a product but as a direct and shared experience.
The perfect synthesis of this research is expressed in the Automatic Impermanence project, confirming the artist's decades-long commitment to fight for a healthier, cleaner and more conscious world through music, culture, technology and education.
Automatic Impermanence first live performance underwent a major environmental impact assessment that lays the foundation for the new model that should be implemented at all live events, marking another fundamental step in the collaboration between the artist and the sustainability scientist Vienna Eleuteri, fostered by CONNECT4CLIMATE program.
Dr Eleuteri with the help of professor Adriana Del Borghi from University of Genova and Tetis Institute, submitted the world's first Environmental Product Declaration, a new open protocol as international benchmark, a unique approach in terms of methodology because it analyzes not only carbon footprint but also other fundamental metrics (soil, water and general ecological footprint).
With Automatic Impermanence the Artist is also trying to experiment a different and more sustainable way to spread music and art. Free from Record Labels and streaming platforms : music is not for sale, it is not a product, it is not available in websites and platforms that exploits data and humans as products, because this creates one of the strongest forms of consciousness pollution.
Automatic Impermanence is available to experience live, as an installation or a performance, and on the very few decentralized platforms on the web that contribute to create a more conscious digital world instead of a world of frustration and exploitation.
